St George Flight Training is the only locally based flying school in Northern England between South Yorkshire and Scotland approved by the Civil Aviation Authority (FTO 155) to conduct courses from Private Pilot to Commercial Pilot and Flying Instructor licences. As many of you will know that there are two routes to a career as a Commercial Airline Pilot, one is the Integrated route which involves full time training school for anything up to two years and which is quite expensive (typically £70,000 plus) if you are self funding, and the Modular route which we recommend at less than half the price of the Integrated route. The Modular route means just that - i.e. you can complete a module, be it the Private Licence, Commercial Licence or Flying Instructor endorsements as and when you can afford it or if engaged in a busy lifestyle or career change simply when time permits. 

     Many of our ex students are now in Captain and First Officer positions within the UK and some of the Worlds major airlines – all have worked their way up after qualifying with us as Flying Instructors and teaching other trainee pilots for say two or three years before completing a Multi/IR and then joining the airlines having gained much valuable experience along the way (and earning an income at last!). By ‘experience’ we mean not just the 1000 to 1500 hours flying experience gained but in dealing with customers and all manner of major airfield staff, from Air Traffic to refuellers to Security and so on.
